Step 1: Determine Placement Inside or Outside the Recess

Start by assessing the placement of your window in relation to any nearby recess. If your window is situated within a recess, you must determine whether to mount the track or pole inside the recess or just outside it. Mounting inside the recess provides a snug fit, while mounting outside allows for overlap with the window, improving light blockage and insulation.

Step 2: Taking Measurements

Ensuring precise measurements is vital for a smooth installation process when using tracks or poles. To guarantee accuracy, it's essential to rely on a durable metal tape measure. Unlike fabric or plastic counterparts, metal tape measures maintain their shape and reliability over time, ensuring consistent measurements.

Furthermore, recording measurements in millimetres enhances precision. These units offer finer granularity compared to larger ones like centimetres or feet, allowing for capturing even the smallest details accurately.

To ensure a precise fit within tracks or poles, begin by measuring the width at three distinct points. Make sure to measure at the top, middle, and bottom of the area for accuracy. Then, measure the drop at three locations, ensuring to measure from the left, middle, and right sides.

This width and drop measurements together make up the "recess size." When ordering, it's essential to provide us with the smallest width and drop measurements. Also, always remember to indicate the width before specifying the drop.

Installation outside the recess

When installing curtain tracks or poles outside the recess, start by measuring the width of the window. Ensure to add at least another 30cm in total, 15cm for each side, to accommodate the tracks or poles adequately. (See below Chart as a guideline but please note different heading types will require different amounts)

As with installation inside the recess, remember to state the width measurement first, followed by the drop when placing your order. These combined measurements form what is referred to as the "curtain size" during the ordering process.
