New state-of-the-art blind design offers child safe control and peace of mind for suppliers and families alike

Manchester based textiles company, Evans Textiles, has launched a range of new innovative blind systems that offer numerous benefits and promote child safety. The new motorised Roman blinds have been specifically engineered to be simple-to-use, safe and efficient so that they can be installed around the home, workplace or in any public space.

The new range consists of mains and lithium battery operated blind systems which can be operated with a wall switch, timer or remote control rather than the potentially dangerous traditional chain operation which is often in reach of young children. The chainless mechanism for drawing the blind allows the user to simply press ‘up’ or ‘down’ to position the blind as they wish – perfect for a child’s bedroom.

Paul Callan, Managing Director of Evans Textiles, said, "Unfortunately, blind systems can still pose a threat as a silent killer within the home and accidents still do happen.” According to research* it can take just 15 seconds for a toddler to lose consciousness if they get tangled in a blind cord with death occurring in as little as 18 seconds.

“Preventing deaths and serious injury from accidents lies at the heart of our Nuance child safe blind range. Our motorised blinds have been created exclusively for Evans and are ‘safe by design’, with cordless operating features and our innovative child safe cord mechanisms for the rear of the Roman blinds -  ensuring the protection of children from unnecessary harm.” He added; “We’re delighted to bring these stylish blinds to market and we hope that they can make a real difference in protecting children whilst creating a beautiful and easy-to-use window dressing for clients.”

Aside from the obvious advantageous to child safety and compliance to the relevant legislation, the blinds also offer ease-of-use to the user and come with a 10 year guarantee as standard. The range is also available in a number of widths and can be made to measure specific dimensions.
